ABOUT
Elin Jonsson is a swedish fiddle player and teacher from Strömsund in the region of Jämtland. Growing up in a family of folk musicians, the traditional music and dance was a natural part of everyday life and Elin began to play the fiddle at an early age. She has studied at the Ingesund School of Music to become a violin teacher and holds a master's degree in nordic folk music from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Danish National Academy of Music in Odense, Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts in Helsinki and Ole Bull Academy in Voss.
Elin is a versatile musician who moves with ease between different styles and genres. The tunes from Jämtland are close at heart but Elin likes to delve into improvisation or plug her violin into a loop station as well. Her playing style has been described as delicate, groovy and genuine. |
